How High Can We Go?
Apr 26th
Today I decided to take the car out onto the street and play around with the launch RPM limiter which was set at 2500 RPM. Basically I wanted to see how high I can set that and have the brakes still hold the car back. The end result is that 2500 RPM is already at the very edge. Check out the video!
By the way watch the front tires in the video – you can see that when I test the RPM limit they aren’t rolling at all – the brakes are holding them. It is the rear drums brakes that aren’t able to hold the slicks back.
H786
Apr 23rd
I finally got my competition number! It is H786.
The reason it took so long was because they finally sent me back a letter saying that I didn’t put down the right amount for the fee for the competition number. WTH?! They also sent me back the form I filled out. I took a look – it said clearly $40 for the competition number. Then I look at the letter – they are saying it is $80. Confused, I decide to do a little research. It turns out that NHRA just recently doubled their fees for the competition number. What really sucks is that I sent in my application long before they announced the new fee change. So basically they just sat on my application, announced the change, and then forced me to pay double. That’s just simply evil. When I sent in an updated application with $80 instead, it took them less than 2 days to give me a competition number.
Nice going, NHRA. (National Hairy Rats Association)
Andy Closkey & Pinks All Out
Apr 20th
My Canadian friend, Andy Closkey – he’s made it onto the Pinks All Out show that is happening in Seattle at Pacific Raceway on August 14 and 15. In an effort to help him out with travel expenses and so on, I’ve set up a PayPal donate button on his web site…
I’ve also made Andy promise to drive completely naked during the shoot. So if you want to see a funny naked Canadian race a car called “Strip Teaser” in Pinks All Out, donate some money!
Here’s where you go:

ADRA Race #4 – The Videos
Apr 18th
Here are the videos from race #4!
Qualifying #1 – Steve Johns in the other lane.
Qualifying #2 – Wirsching in the other lane.
Qualifying #3 – Whitt in the other lane.
Eliminations #1 – Versus Steve Johns
ADRA Race #4
Apr 18th
Jerad, Keven, Shelley were all there at the track helping me out. Due to the miracle of techology, Andy was there too.
Long story short, I got eliminated in the first round.
It was all going so well, too! For the first qualifying pass the slicks spun pretty hard, so we decided to take some air out of the slicks and Andy suggested doing a longer burnout further out of the box. That worked very well – there was significantly less tire spin during the second qualifying pass. So we took a tad bit more air out of the tire and settled on 12 pounds for the slicks. The third qualifying pass went by perfectly. No tire spin, and the nose of the car was up all the way through the stripe.
And for all those three qualifying passes, I was able to use the new 3-step perfectly. Flip the switch to select the 5000 RPM limit, do the burnout, then flip it back down to 2500 RPM before staging. I was able to launch my car all three times without taking my eyes off the tree!
Then it got late… I’m so sleepy…
Eliminations round 1 came up…
My brain reverted back to the old way of doing things…
And when it was time to launch, I released the foot brake… but my thumb was still glued to the line lock button for about half a second before my brain registered why my car wasn’t going fast. !@*!&@$!
That was a long drive home.
