Day 2 Ready To Go

May 21st, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve got all the parts I need to start "Day 2" of getting this car ready to race. When will Day 2 be? It will be whenever Jerad can come over to help me out. In the pictures below you’ll notice that I took a picture of the boxes just as UPS (United Parcel Smashers) have left them. Note the box in the middle clearly has the this-side-up arrows marked on it… and yet the box is on its side. This is the box with the tranny fluid, brake fluid, and engine oil. Nice. And note how beat up it is. Fortunately everything inside was in good shape, probably due to the exorbiant amount of air padding that Summit Racing put in the box. The TCI Deep Transmission Pan and RCI Racing Jacket will arrive tomorrow via FedEx.

I also took a picture of a book I had but totally forgot to mention in this blog. This book helped me to really understand the fuel system and how the engine works as far as fuel goes. I highly recommend this book to everyone (not just Holley carbuetor owners).

I should also mention that I registered www.HerboldRacing.com and it is currently pointing to this site. I decided to register that domain name because its easier for people to remember and that is what I am going to put on the Duster before I take it to the track.

Today, I also went to Sears and bought a Craftsman beam type torque wrench. This one has a lifetime warranty – do not get the click type from Sears… it’s only got a short warranty. Then I headed on over to Home Depot and got a Husky click type torque wrench. That one does have a lifetime warranty. I intend to use the beam type for the lower inch pound requirements, and the click type for the higher ones.
