Fuel Cell

A friend of a friend had a fuel cell from Summit Racing that he wanted to sell. I bought it from him and now it is sitting in my garage waiting to be integrated into the Duster. I will probably e-bay the original gas tank to see if anyone wants that. The gas tank on the Duster right now is not completely original – it has been modified for racing use.

Here’s a picture of the Summit Racing fuel cell.

Watching J. Flemming Racing

Yesterday night I went out to Speedworld to watch my buddy race his car.  He has his own web site that I help maintain.  It was an ADRA (Arizona Drag Racing Association) points event.  Below is a video of him racing – for more videos and information about Jerad and his car, go visit his web site!

Helmet Arrived

The G-Force racing gear I ordered from Summit Racing has arrived. I opened it up and tried on the helmet. It fit perfectly. It does make wearing glasses pretty uncomfortable so I might just end up wearing contact lenses when I am racing – It’s probably safer that way anyway! Here are a few pictures of the new stuff:

Winch Arrived, Helmet Ordered

Today the UPS truck dropped off a box for me. In it was the SuperWinch S4000 and accessories that I ordered from Summit Racing. I also went ahead and ordered some more stuff from Summit. I ordered a G-Force Pro Force 1 helmet in white, a G-Force helmet bag , and also a roll bar helmet hook . Since I work at a place that has a lot of professional artists, I am going to try to get one of them to do some custom airbrushing on the helmet.

I am going to need to take the truck to a local car audio shop to install some heavy gauge power lines from the battery to the back of the truck for the quick connect. I also need to take the trailer, probably this Saturday, back to Deer Valley Trailer to install the winch itself.

Here is a picture of the winch and accessories.

Winch on the Way

Just this last Sunday I ordered a few parts from Summit Racing for the trailer.  I ordered a SuperWinch 4000, a cover for it, and a quick connect kit.  Summit threw in a free hat.  They should arrive in “3 to 4 days” according to their email.

I also checked Year One and Jegs but decided to go with Summit.  I found a 25% discount coupon code for Year One (click here for it) but unfortunately their catalog was riddled with errors and the majority of the stuff I wanted were exempt from any discounts.  When shipping and handling costs were factored in, Year One ended up being $50 more expensive than Summit and Jegs even with the coupon code.  I didn’t go with Jegs because they didn’t have the right kind of quick connect I needed.

When the winch arrives, I will take the trailer back down to Deer Valley Trailer and have them do a few things.  I’ll have them mount the winch to the trailer, add a spare tire, and figure out why the break-away is not recharging when hooked up to the truck.
