Interesting Doodads, Part 1

We’re going to play a little game called “what the heck do I have?”

Look at the large below. Recognize anything? Let me know! Send me some comments blessing me with your infinite wisdom of all things Mopar. I’ll post acknowledgements to those who want it on this web site.

No air filter so previous owner used a piece of some Crayola toy as a dust cap for when the car is not running.

Looks like a custom made metal sheet with foam ring acting as seal to direct hood scoop air into carburetor.

This is the engine bay with that aforementioned custom seal thingy removed.

Some sort of fuel line regulator?

[Update from crankshaftkid: Yes, those are fuel regulators on the fender well.]

The carburetor. I see a “5620A” but I can’t find a match on the internet. I also see numbers “9109″ with “8804″ below it in a couple of places on it. If this is the Holley 8804 then it is an 830 CFM 4150 carbuetor. However, since there is a “Max Flow Racing Carburetors” tag on the side I suspect this is a modified carburetor.

The distributor (stock?).

[Update from crankshaftkid: The distributor is a mechanical tach drive unit, not stock at all.]

Holley Strip Dominator intake manifold. How do I tell which model?

[Update from crankshaftkid: I think there's only one model for the 4150 series carbs for Mopars.]

The Hurst Quarter Stick – I’m not sure whether I have forward or reverse valve body. There’s an excellent web site describing the operation of this shifter. Diehard Mopars might want to avert their eyes since this is a Ford web site. I have no idea what the cable hooked up to the left of the shifter is – I’m hoping its some kind of transmission brake control.

[Update from crankshaftkid: The coiled cable that is hooked up to your shifter is probably for the line lock. The car does have one.  A reverse valve body is one where you pull the shifter back for 1, 2, and high gear. P, R, N, 1, 2, 3 is how it'll shift.]

The tachometer.
